Welcome Flamebarer,

I am Doc, a Gyðia, and a guide devoted to the sacred work of kindred building and spiritual transformation. My journey began under the mentorship of Magni Torsson, who was ordained in 1995 by Allsherjargoði Jörmundur Ingi Hansen. In 2021, Magni formally ordained me, though I’ve served my kindred since 2015.

I created the Ember Path to offer structured spiritual training rooted in ancestral reverence and modern accountability. My book Introduction to the Elder Futhark: A Journey to the Past became a beloved resource in the Norse Pagan community, and I founded Vegvitrú—a branch of Norse Paganism focused on guidance, healing, and sovereignty. I also established Vegvitrú Academy and the Hof of Bifrost, sacred spaces for learning, ritual, and community connection. I hold credentials from the Wild Rose Herbal College in Canada, an associate degree in Occupational Medicine, and a Phlebotomy Certificate.

I’ve been an ordained minister through the Universal Church since 2008, proudly officiating same-sex weddings long before they were widely accepted. I am a mother, sister, daughter, grandmother—and deeply proud to be a wife. Every role I hold informs the way I lead, teach, and serve. My work is a reflection of fierce love, spiritual discipline, and a lifelong commitment to uplifting my folk.

Our Story

The Ember Path was born from a deep yearning to offer genuine spiritual training to those who feel the call to serve. Too often, seekers are met with gatekeeping or controversy when pursuing ordination. I created this program to offer an alternative—one rooted in integrity, ancestral reverence, and practical wisdom. For those who truly wish to become Goðar, this path offers not just a title, but a transformation.

Being a Goðar is not merely about reciting lore or leading rituals. It is, first and foremost, about serving the folk. I believe 85% of the role is counseling—holding space for grief, conflict, healing, and growth. It requires emotional discipline, neutrality, and a fierce commitment to being a mirror rather than a judge. The other 15% is where the magic lives: crafting tinctures, communing with deities, walking forest paths to gather relics, and engaging with the unseen world of fae and elementals.

Daily life as a Goðar is anything but mundane. It is a dance between the sacred and the practical—between tending to the needs of the people and listening for the whispers of the divine. It means creating tools and rituals that open doors for others to walk through, helping them build relationships not only with the Gods they know, but with the spirits and deities woven into everyday life.

This program is designed to shape well-rounded spiritual leaders. Whether you serve in a kindred or walk a nomadic path, you will emerge from this six-year journey with clarity, capability, and confidence. You’ll know how to guide others, how to hold ritual, how to teach, and how to lead with humility and strength.

By the time you complete the Ember Path, there will be no question of who you are. You will carry the flame of tradition forward, lighting the way for the next generation. This is not just a course—it is a calling, a commitment, and a legacy.
